COVID-19 Vaccination programme: Pfizer Second Dose

Second dose Pfizer vaccines. This information is also on our Facebook Page.

Just a reminder that we are putting on clinics for the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine for patients (Central, Thistlemoor and Wisbech) as well as health and social care staff that we immunised back in January with Pfizer.

First tranche of Three tranches is full booked. We will be releasing further appointments for Tranche 2. This will be for Wednesday and Thursday after the Easter bank holiday

Learning from booking the First Tranche - is that some patients for Astra Zeneca vaccine were booked in - this clinic is only for the Pfizer Vaccine so please do not attend if you need your second AZ vaccine - we will do separate clinics for this. We are checking this as best we can.

We look forward to seeing you on site to help protect you, your family and the community.

General:

We will be due further Pfizer vaccines for our Central Medical Centre, Thistlemoor Medical Centre and Wisbech patients as well as health, social care and frontline staff that we immunised with Pfizer vaccine back in January.

The deliveries are controlled by the NHS and we are finalising exactly when they will be coming. There is unlikely to be a lot of notice unfortunately, nor a lot of choice in times. This is a by-product of the delivery issue, short shelf life for Pfizer, and the volume of vaccine received in each go. Specifically there is unlikely to be a lot of different days to pick from to have the vaccine, but hopefully if you respond quickly to the opportunity to book you will have choice in the time of day.

Some people will be coming from London, Essex and Ely - we would suggest that you pick earlier or late morning appointments rather than end of the day. In some centres people have been left without vaccines at the end of the day - we will obviously do our best to manage this but difficult to predict events can happen which can affect our ability to vaccinate you. If you are local and this situation happens - we will be able to get you back another day which is hopefully less frustrating then if you have travelled from London!

The first tranche is likely to be this coming week (most likely Thursday and Friday). With 2 further tranches the following week ie after the bank holiday.

Once this is confirmed - we will be inviting the 3 groups of over 1,100 patients in the same order as they were vaccinated the first time round.

If you booked via a link (and we have access to your mobile number which will be the vast majority of you) then in the same way you will be able to book in again. If we manually booked you (which is more likely if you are a thistlemoor or central patient without a mobile number) then we will contact you. We will also track to see if the people we expect to book in do and if not will contact you.

We know it’s a worrying time waiting for your second vaccine, as we are, but we will get there. Hopefully this should all be concluded in the next 2 and a half weeks.

We had lots of positivity the first time round in January and are hoping for the same this time around.

Immunising 600 people a day on our site, whilst also delivering care to nearly 30k patients, with a myriad of other services also on site will of course be challenging, with congestion, but we understand how important this is for yourself, your families and the community. The weather will hopefully be a bit better this time round too!

Thanks in advance for your patience, goodwill and grace during this period.

A big thanks also to our clinical and support teams at Central Medical Centre and Thistlemoor who will be working doing their day jobs as well as this work to facilitate the vaccine programme including weekends and bank holidays.

We are currently working hard to deliver the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible patients in the priority groups, at the same time as providing care to all those who need it.

The public have an important part to play to help us do this:

If you are over 50 or in the Clinically Extremely Vulnerable group (also known as the shielding group) please contact us as we would like to offer you the vaccine.

• when we do contact you, please attend your booked appointments

• and please continue to follow all the guidance to control the virus and save lives.

There are also a number of national vaccination sites that are opening and patients may receive a letter from the national NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Booking Service inviting you to book an appointment at one of these vaccination centres. If you receive a letter and are able to travel to the vaccination centre safely, we recommend that you book using the details the letter provides.

Please be aware that while we deliver Covid-19 vaccinations some of our routine clinics and appointments may need to be postponed or rearranged. We will contact you directly if this impacts you – please do not contact the surgery. If you do not hear from us, please attend your booked appointment.

Our practice remains open and you can still contact the surgery for any medical concerns you may have.

For medical advice outside of surgery hours, please contact NHS 111 on the telephone or online via 111.nhs.uk.

You can find out more about the COVID-19 vaccination programme, including frequently asked questions and patient information leaflets here https://www.cambridgeshireandpeterboroughccg.nhs.uk/news-and-events/latest-news/covid-19-national-vaccination-programme/.

Welcome to Thistlemoor Medical Centre

Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic we are making changes to our service in line with NHS England advice. Please see the specific Coronavirus page for further details and see the bottom of this page, we will continue to update this page to keep you abreast of changes to the service.

We still offer face to face appointment for patients who need them. Cases will be assessed first as this give us the opportunity to help patients without putting them at risk.

There are also appointments available at the Boroughbury hub and the Parnwell Surge Hub. If you would like a telephone or video consultation in the evening or weekend you can book an appointment yourself with the Greater Peterborough Network Hub service by clicking the link and selecting book appointment at the top. This is for a routine new problem only. Many of our Doctors contribute to this workforce in the evenings and on weekends.

We are a central Peterborough General Practice looking after over 28,000 Patients from our purpose built single site.

We are a teaching practice and help teach medical students from Imperial College and Cambridge University as well as training doctors preparing to be hospital specialists and General Practitioners.

The purpose of this site is to provide information to our current patients, future patients and people seeking information about our services.

If you are looking for information on how to register with our Practice to allow us to care for you please look at this section. Registration forms are at the bottom of this form - the general form and questionnaire as well as the under 16 year old forms.

We host other services that deliver endoscopy, colonoscopy, ultrasound scanning and aortic aneurysm clinics. If you are looking for information regarding these services please click on the relevant section.

We provide advanced access to our patient population by telephone, video consultations, web and email. Our talented team of healthcare assistants and nurses are also available to help. For patients who do not speak English as their first language we may be able to help through our team of clinical staff from different backgrounds.

MORNING SURGERY – CHOICE OF CLINICIAN

Our services are currently extremely in demand and we are seeing over 400 patients in our morning surgeries (we saw over 550 in January 2021!). Due to the coronavirus pandemic we are reviewing our access policies to protect our patients.

We continue to aim to allow any patient who wishes to be helped by us to have support. We hope you understand that waiting times could be longer during this period and your choice of clinician could be limited. We are helping patients first by phoning or responding on the internet, if we think a patient needs to be seen then we will call them to the practice for a review.

If you are pregnant and would like to self-refer to the midwife service please follow this link:

https://www.nwangliaft.nhs.uk/maternity/im-pregnant/peterborough-city-hospital-maternity/self-referral-form/

We normally offer a full general practice service including health promotion clinics for long-term conditions: diabetes, asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), heart disease and high blood pressure. We are considering how these can be performed without the need for you to access our service. We also normally offer minor surgical procedures on site to remove skin lesions and insert and remove contraceptive devices but this is under review at the moment. Please see this section for more details. We are providing extra evening and weekend appointments over the winter period through NHS England's commissioning of extra appointments. These appointments will be pre-booked only and will be focussed on chronic disease appointments, we are reviewing how these can be delivered without the need for patients to attend the surgery.

Afternoon appointments are available from 3:30pm - 5:30pm daily except for Thursday when there is an emergency surgery only. Unfortunately there are a limited number of appointments and we will need to access each request for an appointment to consider how we might be able to help you without bringing you to the practice.

We promote and would like all of our patients to take an active interest in maintaining their own health as far as possible with assurance that expert help and advice will be available when necessary at both primary and secondary care levels.

We have a car park located at the rear of the surgery with a capacity for around 160 car spaces. This is accessed from Lincoln Road between the Car sales site and the community church on Lincoln Road just beyond the triangle. Please see the maps on this page for further orientation.

The surgery is centrally located within easy reach of bus routes and there is a chemist close to the surgery.

The premises have been extended and modernised to provide comprehensive facilities for patients. The surgery is fully computerised and linked electronically to the hospital and community services.

We are looking to further develop our services and care and are keen on your suggestions. Please see the "Patient Participation Group" section for further information.

The car park is accessed from Lincoln Road. Please use the access road which is found between the two tall trees in between the Car Sales site and the Community Centre. Please see the images below for an area map.

Please note that we have installed a parking management system - called 'Parking Eye'. The purpose of this is to ensure that our patients have good access to car parking at all times. There is no financial benefit to the practice, the doctors or the staff from having this system. Since installing it we have been monitoring car parking availability and are pleased that spaces are available for our patients. If you should over stay or not enter your details correctly please let us know and we can assist you. Please do not park in the staff car park as tickets for parking in the wrong location will not be cancelled.

Vacancies:

We are currently looking to expand our team. If you are interested in moving in to general practice as a doctor, pharmacist, paramedic, nursing role, healthcare assistant and or receptionist please send your CV to our practice manager. Paulina Janczura: paulina.janczura@nhs.net
